I have signed up a few weeks ago. After logging in, I was presented with a very impressive dash board:

Apart from the featured paid post opportunity, there was also a list of other opportunities for me to choose from. Clicking on the “Spon” tab enables the system to list all the available blog sponsorship opportunities. If you noticed, I have also signed up for the Blogger’s Choice Award sponsorship for this blog, which sponsors this blog on a daily price.

Clicking on the “Spark” tab is the most interesting part. Here you can find opportunities where you can blog about another blog, and that he/she would blog you back. Surely is a great opportunity to make friends with other bloggers! You know networking is so important.
Talking about networking, you can get in touch with other bloggers, all around the globe, through SocialSpark. You can add other bloggers as friends and chat with them through the internal email / messaging system. You can vote for them by giving them a prop.

Do you want to host a website in Google? Now you got the chance. Google announced the preview release of the new Google App Engine, which allows you to build and run applications in Python in Google’s server infrastructure.
And guess what, it is free!
The Google App Engine applications are easy to build and maintain. You do not need to maintain your own server or hosting, as Google generously provides 500MB space for free. All you have to do is to upload the application, and it would be done. You can use a free domain name from appspot.com, or your own domain. You can also choose to share the finished application with the world or limit it to just yourself.
Did I mention free? Same as most of the other Google applications, having an account is free. The bandwidth should allow you do serve about 5 million page views a month, according to Google.
At this stage only free accounts are available. However, in the near future, you would probably be able to purchase more disk space.
Other features include (but not limited to):
- Sandbox - The sandbox isolates your application in its own secure, reliable environment that is independent of the hardware, operating system and physical location of the web server.
- Python Runtime Environment - The App Engine only supports Python at the moment. It is running Python 2.5.2.
- Datastore - App Engine provides a powerful distributed data storage service that features a query engine and transactions. Just as the distributed web server grows with your traffic, the distributed datastore grows with your data.
- Google Accounts - You can of course associate your application with your Google account.
- URL & Fetch Service - Applications can access resources on the Internet, such as web services or other data, using App Engine’s URL fetch service.

Nobody don’t know YouTube nowadays. Whether you want to view some MTV, funny videos, information… they can now be found on YouTube. As long as you have a fast and stable internet connection, it is an enjoyment. And addictive.
Recently YouTube has some new API services for developers and partners. They are:
- Upload videos and video responses to YouTube
- Add/Edit user and video metadata (titles, descriptions, ratings, comments, favorites, contacts, etc)
- Fetch localized standard feeds (most viewed, top rated, etc.) for 18 international locales
- Perform custom queries optimized for 18 international locales
- Customize player UI and control video playback (pause, play, stop, etc.) through software
With all these, the sky is your limit.

A summary of the Mozilla Prism is “a web browser that acts like desktop application”. Mozilla Prism was formerly known as Webrunner.
I personally like using desktop application more than web, as the interface only contains the stuff that I need when I am on it. I don’t need a back and forward button when writing my programmes. I don’t need an address bar either.
Same for some web applications eg. Gmail, Calender etc. You don’t need those as they are Ajax based.
Mozilla Prism has stripped out all these. Hence, when running Ajax web applications, it does look like a desktop application. Prism is an application that lets users split web applications out of their browser and run them directly on their desktop.

And hence, you can create individual icons for your application, to be placed on your desktop.

When they are run, these applications would run in their own window.

However, Mozilla Prism cannot be run offline. As expected.
You can find more information about the Mozilla Prism here: http://labs.mozilla.com/2007/10/prism/

A recent news - to purchase an iPhone, you must use a bankcard or visa card with your name on it. Want to buy it with cash? Well, you can’t.
This is the latest policy of Apple, trying to prevent people from buying the phone and unlock & resell them.
For the ones not familiar with this: buying an iPhone in the US would tie you to the AT&T network. You cannot use other carriers’ service with iPhone.
There are heaps of websites teaching people how to unlock a phone, both by altering the hardware (with a bit of skills & luck with soldering iron) or cracking the software.
These unlocked phones are estimated to cost Apple eventually - because people won’t be tied to the AT&T network anymore, which would pay Apple for each sign up, someone believes.
