Are you DOS-obsessed?

Do you remember the days that you have to type all commands in DOS to get your computer going?  There was no mouse at that time.  Only a keyboard.

Have you ever dreamed of using DOS to search?  Now you have the chance – the (Unofficial) Google Shell provides you the opportunity to search the internet like, when you are using DOS.

Open the page and perform a search by typing “web [search query]” to perform a search.  To learn more functions, type “h” or “help”.

If you are feeling lucky, type “l [search query]” or “lucky [search query]“, which works just as the same as the “I’m feeling lucky” button.

Currently the shell only displays 4 results to ease server load.

Spread Firefox 3

Although Firefox is only reaching 20% of the browser market share, it is a highly recommended browser to use because of a lot of benefits, like fast loading time, large range of plugins, and the high usability.

Extreme Firefox supporters would actually uninstall Internet Explorer off their computer, and only use Firefox instead for browsing the internet.

The good news is: Firefox 3 is coming very soon! When? Don’t know. If you don’t want to miss this, then you must sign up below:

Download Day 2008

They are trying to set a Guinness World Record for the most software downloaded in 24 hours.  If you want to be involved in such great event, I encourage you to sign up. You will be notified when Firefox 3 is officially released.

If you haven’t tried Firefox, then I strongly encourage you to try it!  I am sure you will fall in love with it.

What’s up with Gmail

Most of us have a Gmail account.  You might even have multiple accounts for different purpose.  However, do you only use the email function and ignored the rest?  Gmail actually has got a lot more offers than just a simple webmail.  To name a few:

1. iPhone – do you know that Gmail has a new look on iPhone browsers?

2. AOL Integration – now you can chat with your AIM friends in the chat list in Gmail.

3. Colored labels – you can organize your emails better with the color labels offered.

4. Emoticons – better express your emotion in your emails!

5. Group chat – chat with more than 1 person at the same time, in 1 window only.

6. IMAP – do you know you can sync your other IMAP mails for free through Gmail?

The list just goes on and on.  New features might be added from time to time.  Check it out here.

Google TV Ads

Google has advanced one more step in advertising.  Now you can advertise on TV through Google!

You can view an introduction video on here.  It is very easy to set this up.  Through you usual Adwords campaign management interface, you can create a new TV ad campaign, choose the channels and time that you want your video to show.

If you are not sure which channel to advertise on, you can ask for suggestions by inputting your target audience.  You can then choose the recommended time and channel and add it to your schedule.

You can also choose the program that you want to advertise on.  If you are not sure about any recommended programs, there is a ‘more’ link that shows you what the program is about.

If you need help shooting the video, Google would also give you recommendations as well.

The report shows when the ad was shown, impressions gained and how much you spent.
