Business Card Reader

Have you ever owned a business card reader?

For busy business people – this is a must have. Instead of typing the contacts into your Outlook, a quick scan is all you need.

Scan2Contact is another one on the market. What is Scan2Contact?

Scan2Contact with ScanShell 800N is fully integrated into Outlook once installed. You don’t need to install any 3rd party software for it to work. And because you are busy, there is no new software for you to learn. It would extract both image (logo) and data (email address, name, phone etc).

The scanning action is quick – a few seconds will do. No syncing, no exporting.

No external power – just plug & play. It auto detects when you put in a business card. It is fully mobile – perfect for people on the move.

Scan2Contacts is the only business card scanning package that does not require cards to be scanned into another application before the information can be entered into Outlook.

If you are an exhibitor in a trade show etc, then this is a quick & easy way to store your contacts!

It is simple to operate:

1. Put the card into the scanner
2. Scan the card – it does the job for you. You only need to wait for a few seconds
3. Contact window will then be opened. Check & save. Or just scan another card.

No cash accepted for iPhone

A recent news – to purchase an iPhone, you must use a bankcard or visa card with your name on it.  Want to buy it with cash?  Well, you can’t.

This is the latest policy of Apple, trying to prevent people from buying the phone and unlock & resell them.

For the ones not familiar with this: buying an iPhone in the US would tie you to the AT&T network.  You cannot use other carriers’ service with iPhone.

There are heaps of websites teaching people how to unlock a phone, both by altering the hardware (with a bit of skills & luck with soldering iron)  or cracking the software.

These unlocked phones are estimated to cost Apple eventually – because people won’t be tied to the AT&T network anymore, which would pay Apple for each sign up, someone believes.

Introducing PayPerPost

I have recently signed up with PayPerPost. The most thing I love about this service is that they have plenty of opportunities for me to write!

I have signed up with other ones as well. But they usually don’t have much for me as 1. my page rank was low (but recently it has increased by 2 – thanks to the recent Google Page Rank update.) 2. my blog has a narrow audience – only web related 3. I don’t have a lot of visitors.

But payperpost is different. I logged in and I can always see at least 6+ opportunities waiting for me!

Most advertisers are willing to pay US$5+ per post. And just by writing this post, I will get US$20.   There was a service I signed up for only paying US$2 per post, and takes months to process.  And there was another one, paying only US$1 and you won’t be paid until you reach US$50.

Their cashout threshold is $50, which is not hard to reach if you are hard working.  You can take up to 3 opportunities every day.

Please note that you cannot post 3 consecutive sponsored articles.  They have to have at least one non-sponsored articles in between.  Which is fair because if your blog only contains sponsored articles, it is not good to be read.  Nobody is going to visit your blog and you lost visitors.

Happy posting :D

IE 7 for Pirated Windows Users

The MS IE blog has recently presented the move of dropping the WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage) validation step from the installer of IE7.

That means anybody using pirated copies of Windows would be able to use the newest IE7, without being identified ‘you are using a pirated copy of Windows’.

I honestly do not agree on this.  First of all, I don’t think using any pirated software is a good idea.  You may think that software is expensive, but if you found it expensive, just use something free.  There are certainly software that are compatible for what you are using now.  Eg. Windows – Linux, Office – OpenOffice etc, Norton – AVG etc.

Why are you willing to buy hardware at a high price, but not willing to pay for software?  Just because software is intangible? Just because it has less packing? Do you know how much intelligence has been put onto developing something that actually simplifies your work?

Be fair to the developers.

MS has been kicking pirated software on one side, and some how letting pirated software user to enjoy the same benefit that are offered to legitimate users.  I just can’t agree.
